How to get an Account for New PROTECT Users


New Accounts for NIH Users Steps:

  1. FIRST, you must request a new PROTECT account by submitting a ticket (Request Account in PROTECT (NIH user)) through our OHSRP ticketing system here: https://ohsrp.helpdesk.nih.gov/jira/servicedesk/customer/portal/5

  2. Someone from the IT team will be assigned your ticket, ensure all approvals are granted, and will reach out to you to sign up for a training class. 

  3. Sign up for a New User PROTECT Training Session seen below in which the trainers will orient you to the PROTECT system.

  4. Click on the calendar invite link next to the class of your choosing, download the calendar invite and click ACCEPT so we can track your attendance.
  5. The PROTECT team will verify if you do not currently have an account and set up an account for you in our training environment.

  6. The new user takes the New User Live Virtual training class. 

  7. Once the new user has completed the training session the account will be created and the user will then be able to log into PROTECT and begin working in the system. 

New Accounts for pSite Users Steps:

  1. FIRST, you must have your NIH contact request a new PROTECT account by submitting a ticket (Request Account in PROTECT (External Participating Site User)) through our OHSRP ticketing system here: https://ohsrp.helpdesk.nih.gov/jira/servicedesk/customer/portal/5

  2. The NIH contact will send the pSite user account creation guide (see below) and the pSite user will need to log into PROTECT to initiate the account set up process.

  3. Someone from the IT team will be assigned your ticket, ensure all approvals are granted, and will reach out to your NIH contact for you to sign up for a training class. 

  4. Sign up for a New User PROTECT Training Session seen below in which the trainers will orient you to the PROTECT system.

  5. Click on the calendar invite link next to the class of your choosing, download the calendar invite and click ACCEPT so we can track your attendance.
  6. The PROTECT team will verify if you do not currently have an account and set up an account for you in our training environment.

After a ticket is submitted to create your account for ALL NEW USERS, download the calendar invite for the New User PROTECT Training Session you wish to attend and accept the invite. This is how attendance will be tracked. The calendar invite will be removed 24 hours prior to the training date and registration will be closed.
