OHSRP website update

New feature on OHSRP website and information about short form consents

Our website has been updated today with a “news” feature on our home page and a “news page”. Moving forward we will post updates on our website so you can easily see any update we have sent out, and then moving forward, you will be able to refer to previous updates that are sent out on our website as well.

Short Form Consents

When we moved to the new website, we made the decision to only post the revised common rule (rCR) version of the short form moving forward. The only difference between the 2 versions was the addition in the rCR version that states: Before you agree, you must first be provided with a summary of the research study. This summary must contain the key information to help you understand the reasons why you might or might not want to join the study.

Moving forward, please use this version of the short form for any study where subjects have a CC MRN in the intramural research program.

For any future translations of the short form into a language not currently listed (there are 48 languages posted currently), please use the English short form version that is also posted on the same page: https://irbo.nih.gov/informed-consent/short-form-consent-documents/ as the document to be used for the basis of translation.

If you have any questions about the use of the short form, please refer to the Consent FAQs on our website, or contact IRB@od.nih.gov if you have additional questions.
